So close, yet so far…

Vols’ season ends with blown lead in ninth
First of all, we came into this bracket and thought that UNC-Willmington would be a cake-walk (how else do you explain Delmanico’s changing the rotation and not putting in one of his best pitchers in the first round game?!?) and they weren’t. They beat us in the Saturday game for the first round and sent us scrambling. I’ve got to like Vandy’s way of pitching–you put the best out there early. Get the first win to build confidence and they use that as momentum for the rest of the weekend. Big difference–they’re moving on, we’re going home. Second of all, to give up four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning?!? It just leaves me scratching my head and wondering why? I think a lot of it has to be our overlooking UNC-Willmington to start with. They had motivation to beat us and they did. I keep hearing that next year will be an even better year for Tennessee baseball, based on our incoming class. Not that this year as bad–but we started out hot early and lot momentum late season. I just would like to see us be consistent next year–hopefully consistently good.

Well, looks like it’s time to start looking ahead to football season…
